Creating a Pet Profile
When you first open MoaTails, you'll be guided through a friendly 4-step onboarding — Moa walks you through the basics, shows you the key features, and helps you add your first pet. You can also add pets later from the home screen at any time.
Every pet profile includes:
Name and photo — Give your pet a recognizable identity
Species and breed — Helps MoaTails suggest relevant care schedules
Gender — For personalized tracking and records
Birthday — Enables age-based health recommendations
Color — Choose from presets or pick a custom color
Weight — Starting point for weight tracking over time
Microchip number — Store it safely so you never have to dig for it
Health tags — Mark allergies, conditions, or special needs (e.g., "grain-free diet", "hip dysplasia")
Notes — Any care instructions, behavioral quirks, or important details
Don't forget to add your pet's microchip number! If your pet ever gets lost, having that number at your fingertips (instead of buried in a drawer) can make all the difference.
Tips for a Great Profile
Use a clear photo. Your pet's photo appears throughout the app — on the home screen, in the calendar, and in shared views with your care team. A well-lit face shot works best.
Be specific about breed. If your pet is a mix, pick the closest match. This helps with breed-specific health recommendations.
Add health tags early. Tags like "allergic to chicken" or "takes daily thyroid medication" are invaluable when you share the profile with a pet sitter or vet.
Fill in notes for your care team. Things like "anxious during thunderstorms" or "loves belly rubs as a distraction during nail trims" help caregivers provide better care.
Organizing Multiple Pets
Once you've added more than one pet, you can sort them on your home screen:
Recent activity — Pets with the latest events show up first
Alphabetical — Sorted by name
Custom order — Drag and drop to arrange them however you like
Have a senior pet who needs more attention? Drag them to the top of your list so they're always front and center when you open the app.

The free plan supports up to 2 pets. Each pet gets their own independent profile, calendar, and document storage. Switch between pets from the home screen carousel.
