Syncing Your Pet's Schedule with Google Calendar & Apple Calendar
Step-by-step guide to exporting your MoaTails pet schedule to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or any iCal-compatible app.
Syncing Your Pet's Schedule with Google Calendar & Apple Calendar
To see your pet's schedule alongside your personal calendar, export your MoaTails calendar as an iCal feed and subscribe from Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or any app that supports iCal. Here's exactly how to do it.
iCal integration is a Premium feature. See Plans & Pricing for details on upgrading.
Why Sync Your Pet's Calendar?
If you already live in Google Calendar or Apple Calendar, adding your pet's schedule means you see everything in one place:
Your 9 AM meeting, followed by Luna's 9:30 AM medication
Bella's vet appointment on the same day as your dentist appointment — maybe reschedule one
Weekend walks blocked out alongside family plans
No app-switching. No forgetting. Just one unified schedule.
Your pet's schedule, right alongside your meetings and dinner plans. Everything in one view — the way it should be!
Step 1: Get Your Feed URL
Open MoaTails and go to Settings > iCal Feeds
Your unique feed URL is automatically generated
Choose which pets to include — toggle each pet on or off
Tap Copy to copy the feed URL to your clipboard
Step 2: Add to Google Calendar
Open Google Calendar on your computer (this can't be done from the mobile app)
In the left sidebar, find Other calendars and click the + button
Select From URL
Paste your MoaTails feed URL
Click Add calendar
Your pet's events will appear within a few minutes. Google Calendar refreshes subscription calendars periodically (usually every few hours).
Step 3: Add to Apple Calendar
On Mac:
Open Calendar
Go to File > New Calendar Subscription
Paste your MoaTails feed URL
Click Subscribe
Choose a refresh interval (every hour or every day)
On iPhone/iPad:
Go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts
Tap Add Account > Other
Tap Add Subscribed Calendar
Paste your MoaTails feed URL
Tap Next, then Save
Choosing Which Pets to Include
You don't have to see every pet's schedule in your personal calendar. In the iCal settings, toggle individual pets:
Include your senior dog's medication schedule (critical to see daily)
Exclude your cat's water tracking (you know the routine)
Include appointment events for all pets (so you don't schedule conflicts)
You can change these toggles anytime and the feed updates accordingly.
What Shows Up in Your Calendar
Each MoaTails event appears as a calendar entry with:
The pet's name — So you know which pet it's for
Event type — Medication, Feeding, Appointment, etc.
Event title — The specific details you entered
Scheduled time — When the event is due
The feed is read-only — you can see events, but changes are always made in MoaTails. This keeps your pet's data as the single source of truth.
Troubleshooting
Events aren't showing up? Give it a few minutes. Google Calendar and Apple Calendar refresh subscriptions periodically, not instantly. Force a refresh by removing and re-adding the subscription.
Need a fresh URL? If you accidentally shared your feed URL publicly, regenerate your token in MoaTails Settings. This creates a new URL and invalidates the old one.
Events are outdated? Calendar apps cache subscription feeds. Wait for the next refresh cycle, or manually refresh the subscription in your calendar settings.
